Summer Language Study: Beginning Latin


Starting in July 2024, Editing for Scholars will be offering an online summer course in Beginning Latin. The course will run for four weeks and consist of three hour-long sessions per week. The instructor, Dr Paul Franz, holds an AB magna cum laude in Classics from Harvard and a certificate in Medieval Latin from the University of Toronto. His PhD, from Yale, is in English Literature. A graduate of Father Reginald Foster's renowned Aestiva Romae Latinitatis (Summer of Latinity in Rome), Dr Franz has reviewed a translation of Latin poetry for the Bryn Mawr Classical Review and has provided tutoring in beginning and intermediate Latin and Ancient Greek to numerous students at New York City independent schools. Recently, he has offered an introductory Latin course to students, faculty, and staff at the Royal Military College of Canada.
